STORY / GAMEPLAY Super Burnout does not much differ from other superbike racing games as it actually tries to resemble the great Sega's Super Hang-On. In a racing game there's not much to tell (as a story that is). It's another racing sports game where you drive an ultra-fast motorcycle through race tracks that take place on famous circuits around the world. There are six bikes to select from, racing in a total of eight different tracks. On the main menu there are different modes to select: Single mode, practice mode and the championship mode. There is also a two-player versus mode where you can play versus a friend. To the game, the whole experience seems a bit rushed. Super Burnout surely tries to be Super Hang-On but fails to the point that it feels a bit "plastic". The superbike sometimes turns weirdly in every curve and the back wheel looks like it's not spinning at all, though the game's speed is very fast. The truth is that this game needs some practice, before any race against opponents, to master its controls with the -very uncomfortable- Jaguar's joypad. Fortunately, you can save your lap times providing an added challenge of shaving off a few seconds here and there.
GRAPHICS / SOUND Super Burnout's visuals look OK, with their spot on being the sprites scaling and their speed. The game moves at very high speeds and it never suffers from any frame-rate drops. The tracks are well designed and the bike looks cool, but the backgrounds (mountains and cities) are very pixelated and blurry. The soundtrack that accompanies your efforts to win is quite strong and, along with the racing sound effects, it gives an arcade-racer feeling.
